The Institute for Nonprofit Management at Portland State University is sponsoring a New Leader BootCamp in October. This year, BootCamp will take place over three days Oct 14,15 and 16 on the Portland State University Campus with a special focus on turning crisis into opportunity. BootCamp is for new leaders to give them a firm grounding in meeting the challenges of running a nonprofit in today's environment. We are also including two special evening sessions for board members to work with new leaders on two important development issues: developing a leadership team and designing effective collaborations and partnerships.
Costs:
Three full days of training, plus 2 evenings, plus meals for only $450/$410 if registered by Sept. 15.
Evening option for board members includes dinners: October 14, 6-9 and/or Oct 15 6-9. Cost for evening board member attendance - $25 per session or $40 for both.

Who can benefit from “New Nonprofit Leader Boot Camp”?
Is it you?
In times of crisis we have our eyes on the budget, worried about how to make payroll. You might feel as though you were standing on the edge of a cliff. The truth is, in crisis there is opportunity. The opportunity to step back and think strategically about your next move. To find new paths into an uncertain future.
You’re leading in challenging times. While nonprofit organizations run a gamut in size and shape, Nonprofit Leaders often face similar experiences and challenges. Especially now when demand is higher than ever and revenue seems ever shrinking.
New leaders often learn in the school of experience. And, while you care deeply about the mission of your organization and possibly even have “come up through the ranks”, you need new skills to meet the challenges of the new position. And the current tough environment.
You are faced with constant changes in funding and want to build a sustainable organization in this economic climate. You wonder how to build systems that are flexible and how to expand your unrestricted funds.
You need to work with, and manage, a board of directors. Your volunteer board has a strong investment in the mission of the organization. You want an engaged and motivated board that will work in partnership with you to build your organization.
You need to encourage a multi-faceted staff. In doing more with less you need to get the best out of everyone. You may need to strengthen your volunteer pool. You certainly need everyone to pull together.
