Head Start provides free early childhood education programs that support children’s language, literacy, and social and emotional development.
Head Start Eligibility

Oregon Pre-Kindergarten and Early Head Start Eligibility: If your child is between the ages of 3-5 you could be eligible for pre-kindergarten programs. If your child is between the ages of 0-3 your child could be eligible for Early Head Start.

Children eligible for Oregon Head Start come from families:

  • That earn less than 100% of federal poverty.
  • Are currently experiencing homelessness
  • Are receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Are receiving Social Security Income (SSI) benefits
  • And children who are in foster care.
  • Are receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
