In support of the agency's mission, and under the direction of the Teacher, the Assistant Teacher is responsible for providing instruction and supervision in a safe and healthy learning environment for Head Start Children ages 3-5. This position works with typically developing children as well as those with disabilities. The Assistant Teacher will assist the Teacher in developing and implementing developmentally appropriate, inquiry based, emergent classroom curriculum to provide learning opportunities for all children that honors their individual strengths, educational goals, provides on-going assessment on progress, and facilitates children's transition to Kindergarten. In partnership with the Teacher, the Assistant Teacher will promote a high level of family engagement and work in partnership with families to promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children. The Assistant Teacher plays a key role on the interdisciplinary team providing health and family support services to advocate for greater self-sufficiency of Head Start families. Responsibilities also include compliance with Federal and State Head Start Performance Standards, Agency/Head Start Policies and Procedures, Oregon Childcare Division regulations, and Spark/QRIS standards.
