Essential Functions and Responsibilities: • Follow fixed transportation routes to ensure the safest and shortest route possible given the locations of the children and center. • Maintain bus schedule to ensure timely arrival at designated stops. • Transport children and, on an occasional basis, family members for regular class days and occasional evening meetings. • Ensure that children are always accounted for and are correctly released to their parents or authorized guardians. • Ensure that parents, family members and children follow Head Start policies and procedures with respect to the safe transportation, pick up and drop off of passengers. • Deliver program materials to parents on route via the children. • Perform daily inspections of the bus to ensure and maintain proper maintenance of the Agency owned vehicle. • Report vehicle damage and/or malfunction immediately to Transportation Supervisor. • Maintain the interior of the bus in a clean and orderly manner. • Maintain required paperwork for bus maintenance and Head Start program requirements. • Assist in classroom as needed, and as time allows, under direction of teaching staff and Program Area Supervisors. • Share appropriate information regarding enrolled children with teaching staff and center coordinators. • Share appropriate information regarding enrolled children with teaching staff on a daily basis. • Strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures at all times and respond/correct any at-risk safety issues immediately. • Strictly adhere to agency code of ethics and standards of workplace behavior. • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs including regular and reliable attendance and adherence to all company workplace behavior standards.
