Job description

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director, manages disability, behavior support, and transition services for children in the Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Provides guidance on disability, behavior support, and transition services to parents and children. Provides training and technical assistance to program staff in order to support the delivery of quality services. Develops and manages department policies and procedures, assists with and carries out strategic goals, collaborates with applicable college employees and external liaisons, manages department budget and provides direct supervision of department employees. Works independently and in a team environment to support the vision, mission and goals of the College and the Child Development and Family Support programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Oversees the day-to-day functions of the disabilities and inclusion program. Ensures that children are screened, referred, evaluated and able to access services in a timely manner in compliance with local, state and federal laws. Ensures compliance with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) regulations. 2. Provides ongoing program monitoring of Head Start Performance Standards, and ensures monitoring components such as five-year work plans, task lists, community partner plans, and assessments are completed and documented appropriately. Provides input into the design and improvement of the department programs and services, and recommendations for strategic plans based on assessments and to ensure compliance. 3. Develops, administers and monitors policies, procedures and tracking systems for all aspects related to disability, behavior support and transition services. 4. Oversees the usage of and training on required child assessment tools. Ensures tools are deployed as appropriate. 5. Collaborates with local educational agencies regarding referrals, evaluations, and intervention services. 6. Manages the day-to-day department budget operations ensuring spending within budget allocation; provides input and direction to the budget planning process. 7. Trains, develops, encourages, and motivates employees to enhance skills, promote professional growth opportunities, and improve individual wellness. 8. Recruits, selects, orients, schedules, and supervises staff. Evaluates staff performance and provides coaching; rewards and recognizes employees; holds staff accountable and takes disciplinary action, as needed. 9. Attends support planning and Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings and monitors IFSP implementation and services. 10. Designs and delivers training to parents related to disability, behavior support, and transition services. 11. Advocates for the program in various settings, and collaborates with community organizations to collect and disseminate additional information and to arrange ancillary training and services. ADDITIONAL DUTIES 1. Serves on and/or leads various College committees and workgroups, and serves as a College representative on various statewide, local and College committees and attend events as appropriate. 2. Attends training sessions and participates in professional training opportunities. 3. Performs all other duties as assigned. IMPORTANT INFORMATION Mt.
