Job description

PRIMARY PURPOSE: This position is responsible for family search and engagement services under contract with CASA and the Department of Human Services District 7 (D7) Child Welfare. The goal of this position is to locate long-term, permanent connections and relationships for children and youth currently in foster care and establish a long-term emotional support network with family members and other adults who may not be able to care for the Child, but who wants to maintain connections to the Child. This position reports to the Program Director of CASA of Coos and Curry Counties but works collaboratively and responsibly within the network of project partners. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Reason position exists is to perform these functions): • Receive and process referrals from DHS/Child Welfare D7 to perform contract duties • Read complete case file. • Perform appropriate interviews (caseworker, parents, etc.). • Perform detailed search of immediate family members and extended family members to complete family trees and identify possible relative placements. • Connect with and explore all family connections and assess the willingness/availability of family members to participate in the dependency system to offer the best placements for children in care. Use internet tools, social media, cold calling or other tools to identify as many relatives as possible while considering any requested “no contacts” by parent/parent. • Maintain current records in database and in paper files as appropriate.
