Job description

Neighborhood House’s Head Start program provides an opportunity for participants to learn, grow, and thrive in an environment that emphasizes parents as primary teachers, a co-operative environment between families, teachers, family advocates, home visitors, and other staff, connection to community resources, and learning through child-led play. Our program is designed to meet the needs of and to provide school readiness skills to all eligible children, including those with special needs and disabilities, so our community’s children and families are stronger for life. This position will work closely with the Program Director to develop, implement, and evaluate food and nutrition services and budgets and ensure programs are adhering to all Head Start Performance Standards, Oregon Childcare Licensing rules, USDA/CACFP requirements, contract requirements and best practices, as well as coordinate site and service logistics with staff and community partners. This position will work in conjunction with the Family and Health Services and Education Managers and will be responsible for managing the nutrition services and education components consistent with the Head Start Performance Standards, CACFP and other requirements. This position will coordinate and monitor services between the kitchen, classrooms, family engagement staff and families and is responsible for ensuring the kitchen staff and teaching staff support the nutritional needs of the children and implement wrap-around nutrition education in the classroom and home setting. This position is also responsible for providing nutrition consultation and referrals, as needed and education directly to families. Working in collaboration with the Facilities Specialist, this position is responsible for managing all aspects of the maintenance and safety of site facilities and grounds. Working with the Facilities Specialist to develop and implement comprehensive plan for regular maintenance and cleaning of facilities. Working in collaboration with the Office Specialist, this position is responsible for managing all aspects of office management. Working with the Office Specialist to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for supporting overall programmatic technology needs and use, maintaining records and systems and the ordering of programmatic materials. This position will supervise kitchen staff, Facilities Specialist, Office Specialist.
