Governor Kotek Proclaims October as Head Start Awareness Month in Oregon

Governor Tina Kotek has officially proclaimed October as Head Start Awareness Month in Oregon!

This declaration honors the incredible impact of Head Start, which continues to provide early education, health care, and critical family supports to children and families across our state. You can see the official proclamation here.

For 60 years, Head Start has been a national success story —empowering children and families through positive educational outcomes, stronger social and emotional development, and the power of engaged parents and caregivers.

Since its inception in 1965, more than 40 million children and families nationwide have been served. Here in Oregon, programs support children from prenatal care through preschool in all 36 counties.

Head Start continues to build brighter futures for Oregon’s children — one family at a time.
